Tell us more about your upcoming novel.

Incognito is an international thriller with the bulk of the story taking place in Europe. It’ll be published next year by World Castle Publishing. Scenes take place in some of the most beautiful locations in the world. There’s action and adventure.

Are your characters based on real life people?

One character, yes— a spooky one. I was staying in a small, quiet hotel in Geneva’s old town when one night, I looked out the window to see a woman completely in black from top to bottom standing outside in the cold under a street lamp. I thought she was standing dead. Feeling bored later, I decided to go downstairs to talk to the hotel receptionist with a separate office from the lobby. I took the stairs instead of waiting for the ancient traction elevator since I was only one floor up from the lobby. Descending halfway, I saw the same woman standing in the lobby. She glared at me. There was no one else. Realizing she was mentally challenged, I ran back up into my room. How did she get in? Every hotel guest had a password to open the digital door lock? She was not a guest.

Why have you chosen to write suspense-thrillers?

I’m not really sure, but it could possibly have to do with the books I read as a kid. They were mostly detective or adventure books that I used to read. Maybe I like the thrill! Writing suspense or thrillers is like running a theme park; I’m selling you tickets to a roller coaster ride. It always pleases me when people tell me they’ve read my book, and elaborate how much they like a particular scene or two and a quote from a paragraph.

What is the toughest part about writing a novel?

Research. The details, especially if it’s an area you are not familiar with, which means you have to read and re-read to understand and then double check with an expert if you can get one to qualify. Here, let me give you an example: If you were locked in a coffin alive and then buried, how long could you survive? And guns. What you see on TV may not necessary be true. Where books are concerned, it has to be more real. I spent a lot of time trying to find out the impact of a bullet if it travels underwater.

If you could travel back in time to one place and come back, what would you write about?

I’ll visit Whitechapel in the late 1800s. It’ll be about my encounter with Jack the Ripper. I’ll bring some modern day equipment to trap him. If the cops back then had today’s technology, they would’ve known the identity of the killer. I could set up secret cameras, and even release a drone nightly to spy the neighborhood of Whitechapel while being close by. There are other things I can do. The chances would’ve been better.
